Prompt: Write a poem inspired by a cover from Public Domain Review’s article on “The Art of Book Covers.”
Do you know of the infinities?
Unobservable and grand
Across the countless galaxies
Inside each grain of sand
Cast your gaze into the sky
On a dark and cloudless night
Name the paths of illumination
Racing at the speed of light
Align two wafer-thin glass trays
Beneath the learner’s lens
Perceive the worlds inside our own
We scarcely comprehend
Count integers as high as known
Or divide each one and again
Still you will not, can’t approach
The limit without end
I’ve heard no two infinities
Are equal in their measure
To consider any one at length
Is its own unending pleasure
