(“Was It Ever Really Mine?” by Jon Troast)
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Matt 6:19-21
I really like this song. It always gives me such a great perspective on life, and the many things that I’ve been blessed with. Too often, we take for granted the things which the Lord has bestowed upon us and can even slip into thinking that they are actually ours. All that we “have” is really the Lords; we have merely been made stewards over those things for this short time on Earth. Remembering that I am no better than anyone else because of the blessings that I have received reminds me that I need to be making the most of those gifts, and using them to bless others as well.
